Home-made Vending Machine Costume

This year I decided to make a homemade Halloween costume for my daughter. She wanted to be something different from the common princess. After much research, we agreed that a vending machine costume was very unique.  Although this was somewhat time consuming, it was very easy to make.

I cut two arm holes, a hole at the top for her head, a hole in front of the box for the display window, and three sides for the candy slot (save the cutout pieces).  Then I covered a cardboard box with black duct tape. I covered the candy slot with gray duct tape. I then used black duct tape to secure the clear plastic sheet over the hole in the front of the box.

I took the large leftover cutout piece and folded the top 1 inch. I then covered the entire piece with gray duct tape. (Don’t forget to make ledges). I then made circles with the pipe cleaner and secured to the ledges then I added the candy. Once that was completed, I taped it to the inside front of the box by the folded flap.

I added all the finishing touches to the outside of the box to transform this into a vending machine.

It turned out great. My daughter was a huge it at her costume party. I even was able to use it for the Halloween party I attend. Great hit there too!
